Pancratium maritimum

This is a different population from a small Cyclades island Schinousa. Look how big are the petals and the flower structure.

Growing conditions:

  • Sand on 1/2 meter deep (can be river sand)
  • Plantation at 30 cm deep
  • No moving the plants for some years if you want flowers
  • No water in summer and never let the water remain on ground surface.
  • Sunny position (on south) High temperatures and low humidity are accepted.

In south of Spain, flowers appear in august when the plant has no leaves. In France, they appear in september and the plant still have leaves. Doesn't like snow nor frost, so protect them with some leaves in winter. In France, this plant is under protection in some places, no bulbs collecting.
