Lilium 'Vico Gold' grex

Will Ashburner

Attached is a picture of a Lily that flowered for me earlier in the month. It came from seed sent to me by Peter Smithers in his words; The original seeds were evidently not from Arthur Grove before it was registered but from another plant growing nearby which was nearer to the sulphureum parent in that grex than any other seedling to flower here. It clearly had many more Royal Gold genes than any of the others that flowered here. The cross for the grex was L. sulphureum pollinated by Royal Gold.

It is the splitting image of Arthur Grove which we have compared electronically over the last couple of nights. We believe that it is astonishing how close this selfed F1 is.

The vital statistic's from my growing point of view are; sown on the 29th October 1997, germinated on the 29th November, repotted into 150mm pot March 1998, then a 200mm pot in November 1998, flowered 4th January 1999. I make that less than 62 weeks to flower and they went dormant in the winter
