Lilium
anhuiense
These bulbs were imported from China as "sulphureum var." The bulbs are white, the ovary green, the stems are minutely papillose at the base, the nectaries are sparsely papillose, the filaments are pilose at the base, the anthers are brown, and the foliage is unique.
According to the Flora of China, this is L. anhuiense. The flowers are about 8 inches long, flaring widely at the tips. They opened pale creamy yellow, and were white by the next day. Some (not all) had a pink flush on the outside.
The foliage is distinctively different as soon as it emerges from the soil.
