Iris cycloglossa:
This iris is a member of the Scorpiris (Juno) group of bulbous irises.
Originating from a restricted area of Afghanistan, and still rather rare in
cultivation, it is proving to be one of the easiest of this group to
cultivate.
In the garden, it prefers a location that is fairly dry in summer, but
tolerates summer rainfall. Alternatively, it can be grown in a
free-draining soil-based compost in deep pots to accomodate the perennial
roots. Propagation is easiest by dividing the clumps of bulbs, or by
sowing seeds.
Ultimate temperature hardiness unknown, but easily survives -8C with no
trouble.
