Natural Habitat: Departamento de Santa Cruz, Bolivia, at about
800 m above sea level, in dry canyon.
Cultivation: Needs about 3 months to rest. When bulbs die down,
watering should be withheld completely till after bloom and new leaves
are well started. At least half of the bulb should be above soil level.
Comment: Considered by some authorities as a synonym of H.
evansiae which is also native to Bolivia though at lower altitudes.
