Hesperoxiphion peruvianum

In flower today - really fleeting for such a beauty - Hesperoxiphion peruvianum. With us it was in bud last night, in flower this morning & fading by lunch time! Its beauty however compensates any shortness of flowering time. Our literature gives Cypella peruviana (Bak) & Phalodollis peruviana (O. Ktze) as Syn.

Here is a very nice species flowering for me at present in Gippsland.It is Hesperoxiphion peruvianum. We have had a very dry summer but just in the last few weeks we have had quite a nice lot of rain.
