These species all come from various places in Southeast Asia.  They are adapted to a monsoon climate, and most have a very dry period in the cooler winter months. Some are forest species, some live on more or less shaded cliffs and at least one (susannae) grows in grasslands. All do well in quite shady conditions (except susannae, which likes a little more light). A well-drained medium is necessary. They make tubers of various sizes (depending on the species) to survive the dry period.  I stop watering in late November (earlier if the plants die back before this), repot sometime in Jan-Feb, and start watering again on May 1, ready or not.
