I've asked on a few lists for more information about this plant. It came to me as Lapeirousia 'Naticoke' and was thought by the owner to be an American hybrid. It looks like a cross between Freesia grandiflora (syn. Anomatheca) and Freesia laxa (syn. Anomatheca) and flowers at the same time as the blue/mauve form of Freesia laxa (syn. Anomatheca).

The colour is unique for the genus if it is Freesia (syn. Anomatheca). Any info. or comments would be really appreciated.
