Erythronium grandiflorum large form

A friend of mine hybridizes Erythroniums and I've been hoping to coax a special grandiflorum to set seed (it's refused so far). I've never seen another of our local fawn lilies anywhere close to this size and would love to be able to send one to her. The intense green on the back of the petals is especially interesting. (A normal sized specimen is shown in the background.) 
 
I've cloned some bulbs by cutting them in half or quarters but is this something that would work with these?
