| Clivia 'Maxima'

Fred van Niekerk, in South Africa, grows a plant he calls Clivia "Maxima"
— it is a very interesting plant. It looks to me like a natural hybrid
between the so-called "Swamp Gardenii" and Clivia
nobilis. It
has more
florets per umbel than either of these two purported parents. The leaf
tips are in between the dimpled form of nobilis and the bluntly pointed
leaf tips of the swampie. Fred wrote up a piece on its origins, which you
can read at: http://www.shieldsgardens.com/Seeds/CliviaMaxima.html
