Bessera
elegans

Marc Hachadourian
Well here in the north
east us we have received our third snow fall in a week. I am dreaming
of spring days while perusing catalogs and seed lists. Just developed
a roll of film from last summer and thought that you all would love to
see the images of Bessera elegans taken at Wave Hill last summer.
Bessera elegans was love at first sight (you can see why) and
it is in my mind one of the most beautiful bulbs. What you really can't
see in the photo is that the flowers have lighter scarlet barring on the
inside of the flowers and the pollen is purple. For reference the flowers
are just under an inch across.
