Asphodeline brevicaulis

Golan Heights, E of Mt Shiffon

Asphodeline brevicaulis is found in arid SW Asia. In Israel it is found in disjunctive populations from Mt Hermon to the Judean mountains. All sites are located in the relatively arid parts of the Mediterranean region. We grow this species successfully at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, both in the grounds and in a container. It doesn't need any irrigation under Mediterranean climate. Blooming takes place in late April and May.
