There's been quite a bit of talk about Amaryllis 'Hathor' (Haythor? - have seen it spelt both ways so I'm not sure which is correct ) on the list recently. Mine has just finished flowering. It has been in the same spot since we bought our house some 21 years ago and is now a huge mass of bulbs on the surface of the soil which consists of fairly friable clay. I just counted them and there's approximately 75 bulbs in the clump now and the base of the highest bulb is 25 cms above the soil surface! Thanks to Will Ashburner for the ID. According to him the name is strictly speaking x Amargyia parkeri 'Haythor' - thanks for the tongue twister.

Best wishes
