Fred Meyers financed an expedition in the 1970s to collect in Bolivia. Three people went on this trip. Hippeastrum mandonii was one of the Botanical Treasures that were
brought back. This is a beautiful flower, greenish color with approximately one inch reddish tips on all petals. I have grown this bulb since1980, and have found it to be one of the
most spectacular blossoms in my collection. Seed fertile and offsets at a nice rate. Needs a well draining soil, and does well on the dry side. Does not like to be excessively wet.
